三门县海岸线总长227公里，其中不乏深水岸线，龙山岛岸线通航能力可达10万吨以上。该县充分利用这一难得的资源，通过科学规划，合理布局，大力发展临港产业。基地拥有前景广阔的深水港区开发条件、丰富的滩涂和土地资源、明显的交通区位优势、良好的城市依托和发展潜力等，满足发展临港经济必须具备的四大基本要素。
In the initial stage of the project, the Gaonitu Shoal and Longshan Shoal Enclosure Projects (Longshan Shoal as deep water front and Gaonitu Shoal as port hiterland) will be launched to work out infrastructure for the base. Gradually near-port Industrial District, Warehouse District, Distribution District, Life-supporting District and Shipbuilding Base will be developed to form a development and construction structure characterized by integration of mu (1mu=1/15 hectare)ltiple functional districts. The development of this area will mainly focus on large-scale near-port industries like petroleum chemical, petroleum product storage, shipbuilding and ship-repair, ship fittings, man-sized ocean equipments, near-port logistics, and the like.
Sanmen County has a coastline that totals 227 kilometers. Therefore it is never short of deep-water strand line. The sea traffic capacity of Longshan Island strand line can be amount to over 100,000 tons. The County makes good use of this advantage and, through scientific planning and rational arrangement, vigorously develops near-port industries. The Base enjoys advantageous conditions for developing deep-water port, abundant shoal and land resources, evident and dominant transport location, favorable city backings and development potentials. Therefore the Base possesses the four fundamental elements required in the development of near-port economy.
